4.            Treasurer’s Report

The Committee received and accepted a profit and loss statement from the Treasurer as at 31st August 2017.  Table money was down a bit, particularly evenings, but this was due to the time of year and not running a session on the Bank Holiday Monday.  The bill for the teacher training course had also been paid.  Charles was thanked for presenting the accounts.

5.            Competitions Committee Report

We are still awaiting the evening results of the Summer Cup competition.  The Playday singles event has been cancelled due to lack of support.  The date of the Northcott Cup Bluepoint event will be advised.

6.            Review of Room Hire Fees

Ann and Charles will meet with representatives of the Chess Club and U3A to explain the proposed changes to room hire fees and what facilities the fees include.

7.            Proposed Mentoring Programme

Richard offered to arrange this programme.

8.            Building Maintenance and Improvements

Two estimates had been received for the proposed kitchen/toilet renovations.  It was agreed to accept the quote from Russell Beeney.  After some discussion and modifications to the plans it was hoped to proceed on the 25th September. The work will take approximately three weeks.  Unfortunately, this will cause a little disruption in the kitchen area but should not encroach the Bridge playing area.  Plans will be placed on the notice board and any comments/suggestions should be made by the 23rd September when the working party will meet for final agreement.

The plan to move the front door and stairs has been dropped.

After the kitchen improvements it is hoped to decorate the hall and stairs.

A plumber has been asked to call to repair the upstairs Gents toilet.

9.            Stratification

The Scorers have queried the banding for stratification; John will look into banding parameters.

10.         First Aid Training

Sue Murkin said that four people had expressed an interest in undertaking this course which will be held on 27th October.  On completion a certificate, valid for three years, will be issued.  Agreed the Club would pay for the course.

11.         Host Rota

Gill Seymour had informed the Committee that she is willing to continue running the host system until the next AGM.

12.         Any Other Business

Membership – David Rendle and Joanne Davis still haven’t been issued with an EBU number.  EBU to be contacted again.
