AGM 2012

The AGM will be held on Wednesday 29 February at 6.15pm.
Nomination Forms for Officials & Committee are available from Ali Blake. The forms must be signed and passed to Ali Blake or another committee member by 15th February 2012.
Any items for the Agenda must be proposed and seconded and passed to Ali Blake or another committee member by 15th February 2012.
Bridge will follow the meeting (no table money).

A reminder of two events in January:
- The Devon Pairs qualifying round on Monday Jan 31. Open to all members. Anyone who achieves 50% or more will qualify for the final at the Isca Centre on Sunday 26 Feb. No extra table money. No pre-entry required.
- National Pairs qualifying round on Thursday Jan 26. Pre-booking required (e-mail John). At least 10 pairs need to enter before the event will run. Approximately the top third will qualify for the regional final in Bristol on Sunday March 18. Table money: £2.

Improvers' classes start on Tuesday September 20 evenings (10 lessons). Contact Jack or Jenny Thompson to book your place or with any questions - phone 01752 777305.
Supervised social duplicates - 12 (randomly dealt) boards with help and advice during the sesion and hand records after. Every Thursday evening 7.15-9.45pm, no duplicate experience necessary, no partner needed. Pay as you go. Phone Ruth Edmondson 01752 316160.
New Chairman

The committee have accepted the chairman's resignation and Gloria Lankshear (the vice-chairman) has now taken over as Chairman.
Membership List

We are moving with the times and intend keeping the membership list 'in the cloud'. This makes the list easier to keep up to date and easier for members to view. We are keeping the files in Google Docs to ensure their security. To view the files, a Google account (free to open) is necessary. Also each member who wants to view the files must supply us with their email address (the same one used on the Google account). We have to add these to an 'allowed to view list'. After that they will be able to log in to their Google account and view the files at any time. This is actually more secure than keeping the membership list in a box file in the club - the files are only able to be viewed by the 'allowed to view list' and even their existence is not visible to anyone else.
If any member would like to be able to view the lists, please email ruth with your email address (please open a Google account first).
Thursday Evenings

Unfortunately, due to low numbers, there will be no club bridge on Thursday evenings for the present.
The improvers' duplicate will continue as usual on Thursday evenings 7.15pm start. Any members who would like to come and play/help are very welcome.

Novice Duplicates

Novice duplicate sessions will run through the summer on Thursday evenings 7.15pm-10pm. Hour and a half bridge followed by coffee and then a discussion on the hands. No partner needed, no duplicate experience expected, no booking necessary - just turn up. £3 a session. Starts 5 May 2011.

Ladies' and Men's Pairs and Scholefield Cup

Congratulations to Sue and Sandra who won the Ladies' Pairs, to Geoff and Paul who won the Men's Pairs and to Margaret and Norah who won the Scholefield Cup.
Updated Constitution

The constitution has been updated and can be found here. The main changes are:
removal of reference to gender, removal of references to gambling, reduction in sizes of committees, limit to the amount the committee can borrow without club members approval, indemnity for the trustees built into constitution, protection of the club from any bodies renting space in the club building, removal of time restriction on chairman's office, post code added, limit to number of times a non-member can play, description of duties of committee and sub committees and correction of previous typo's.
Green Point Simultaneous Pairs

The EBU P2P

At the EGM on 24 July the club voted to remain affiliated to the EBU when the Pay to Play starts in April 2010. The table money will go up to £2 a night from January 2010. The chairman noted that the club could withdraw from the EBU at any time. There were 34 votes in favour, 3 against and 2 abstentions.
