1.            Minutes of meeting held on Monday 11th September 2017

The Minutes were approved as a correct record.  However, the First Aid Course was held on 29th September, not 27th October as previously advised.

2.            Matters Arising

Course for Directors – The Chairman will contact  Robin Barker or Tom Hill to obtain a date for this course

New EBU Rules – Andy Carpenter will talk to the Bridge Directors on Friday 13th October to explain the new rules.

Review of Room Hire Fees – It is proposed to increase the room hire fees by 3% next year and by the rate of inflation every year after 2018.

Stratification – Will be discussed at the next meeting.

3.            Treasurer’s Report

The Profit and Loss Account for September will be presented at the next meeting.

4.            Building Maintenance and Improvements

The kitchen renovations are going well.  The joists in the tea room ceiling were replaced as they were in a very poor state and were undermining the floor above.  The cost of this work was £540.

Two estimates to be obtained to service the boiler and to repair the toilet on the first floor.  This is now a matter of urgency.

The safe had been removed from the kitchen; it was proposed to replace this with a letterbox safe, where anyone handling money can make a deposit.  Unanimously agreed.

An electrician to be asked to assess whether it would be worth repairing the cooker.

We are now without a Building Manager, a notice to be displayed asking for a volunteer.

5.            Parking

As parking restrictions had been altered in the Mutley area, members were asked to be aware of this and to look out for any further changes.  An enquiry had been made about a Disabled parking space, the Council to be contacted.

6.            First Aid Course and Issues Raised

Six members completed this First Aid Course and certificates will be issued in due course.

It was decided not to purchase a defibrillator at the moment; the nearest ones can be obtained from the G.P. Surgery in Lisson Grove or from the Fire Station at Greenbank.

Suggested all new members be made aware of Fire Exits from the building and a notice to be produced with this information and the location of the First Aid Kit.

7.            Christmas Get Together

It was proposed to cancel the afternoon Bridge session on Thursday 14th December and to hold a cheese and wine function in the evening.  Opinion to be canvassed.  Jim Dunn had volunteered to be the Director.

8.            Any other business

EBU numbers - David Rendle and Joanne Davis now have EBU numbers.

Evening Bridge - The last evening session before Christmas will be the 20th December, the sessions will then recommence on the 3rd January 2018.

Telephone Number – Many members were not aware that the Bridge Club had a telephone.  A notice to be displayed giving the location and number of the telephone, which is 07927 086075

9.            Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held on Monday 6th November 2017 at 5 p.m.
